SKIL2

The banner at the top of this site is part of my visual branding for SKIL2.I love it.

And just in case people think that I only live online. Here's a photo of me and the team who are creating a no dig garden near my cottage in Ballinamore. To get that story wander over to my LizBiz blog.

As usual SKIL2 visual branding is a creative and inspirational partnership between my brother Marc and me.

He has developed the visual branding for my Focused Solutions consultancy and has agreed to be my SKIL2 branding and design mentor.

We both love design and having fun translating an enterprise vision into some kind of visual symbolism.

I tend to be averse to any kind of branding that looks too left brained - although I understand why it works for some people and organisations.

Marc 'gets me' and the sometimes rambling emails he receives as I try and pin down the core of my businesses.

We develop everything via email as I am in Ballinamore and he lives in Singapore. It works really well for us both.

The business card he designed is delicious and I've attached it for your perusal. As you are my SKIL2 supporters I wanted you to be the first people to see it all.

Other SKIL2 news

1. I was invited for an interview for the Social Entrepreneur Ireland Award last week. I will know if I won an award by mid June.

2.Depaul Trust Ireland have agreed to be my SKIL2 national non profit guinea pig/partner for1 year. They are investing 10,000 euro and the back up of their whole organisation.

Depaul Trust provide emergency accommodation and a range of other accommodation and support services to the most marginalised of homeless people in Dublin and Belfast.

They were the first organisation in Ireland to take the risk and really push services such as - harm reduction; low threshold services and needs specific (e.g. wet shelters, accommodation and support for women leaving prison and accommodation for drug users) services.

They are eager to innovate in order to provide the best services to the people they serve.

And that's why they want to be a part of SKIL2. - and - that's why they were my first choice to pilot SKIL2.

They want to explore new ways that their workforce can learn - new ways that they can collaborate and develop their skills. It's a huge leap for them and me.

Innovation never ever ever happened in a comfort zone.

Their CEO, Kerry Anthony, is totally supportive of the whole enterprise - even when she says that IT and all the stuff I talk about is totally latin to her. But she's keen to learn.

In two weeks I will be presenting the SKIL2 vision to their senior management team- then all their managers (about 20) - and in January 2009 - all their workers. It's part of an ongoing communication and buy in/commitment strategy that I'm developing.

In a month I'll be off to the Sakai conference in Paris. I emailed the Sakai CEO and we are going to meet up and talk about SKIL2. I'm delighted.

Not bad for 8 weeks or so.

Hope good things are happening and going well for you.

Regards
Liz
